Introduction and Practice Problem
The practice problem is an unfriendly work environment due to work stressors.
In the past, healthcare workers have been complaining about unfriendly work environment including long shifts. The management has done little to improve the current situation. The problem has been recurrent since practitioners have been quitting the company or recording low job satisfaction. The data in the healthcare facility shows that only 20 percent of the practitioners feel the environment is unfriendly while the rest demonstrate high levels of willingness to quit.
Evidence-Based Practice Plan Explanation
The appropriate intervention for the problem is to set improvement targets and fast tracking the progress. Patients have been complaining about the poor healthcare services in the healthcare facility. The cause of the problem is that practitioners have to attend to many patients leading to poor patient outcomes. Healthcare workers do not get sufficient time to rest or communicate with patients (Pimentel et al., 2019). Educating practitioners to use fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps to examine their progress is an evidence-based intervention that provides the practitioners with information on the areas they need to improve on. For instance, it is vital to measure the job satisfaction and examine why it is rising or declining with time. Developing effective mechanisms to fast track the progress will provide the management with information on decision-making (Siegel et al., 2018).
Using fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps is vital in the implementation of evidence-based intervention (Coury et al., 2017). The model involves carrying out tasks and measuring their outcome and comparing them with past performance. Healthcare workers such as nurses and physicians will be responsible for providing the data to determine the progress. For instance, after providing care to a patient a nurse will be responsible to fill the satisfaction forms. The information will examine the quality of service at the hospital. For example, healthcare workers will explain how to improve the healthcare environment. Communication among healthcare workers, patients, and family members will improve the decision-making regarding the quality of the healthcare environment (Siegel et al., 2018). It will be crucial to capitalize on the fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps to examine the progress.
The healthcare managers will ask the nurses to provide information about the healthcare environment. Nurses and physicians will capitalize on information they receive to make quality decisions. Creating a friendly rapport with multidisciplinary teams will empower the healthcare teams (Campbell, 2020). Finding appropriate interventions will give healthcare workers sufficient time to provide the relevant information. For instance, examining the current situation will determine the future progress. Healthcare managers should understand the allocation of duties to avoid burnout and fatigue. Allocation of duties will ensure friendly outcomes that will facilitate effective delivery of care to all patients.
Nurses and physicians should track the progress and make decisions to adjust the current environment. Tracking the progress will eliminate the risk of discrimination, unfairness, and injustices (Campbell, 2020). For instance, it vital to provide quality environment that will accommodate people from diverse backgrounds. The workplace comprises of whites, Chinese, Jews, and African Americans. Embracing all communities will provide a friendly environment.
Shortage of nurses and healthcare workers have been prevalent in the healthcare sector. Quality improvement measures are necessary to address the healthcare issue. The problem affects the quality of healthcare outcomes. For instance, practitioners have been discouraged due to the long shifts and high workload. The problem has been prevalent due to the failure of the management to address the issue. The problem has escalated during the pandemic due to the high number of patients seeking healthcare services.
Resources
Healthcare workers can utilize diverse resources at their disposal to execute the quality improvement plan. The resources required to solve the problem includes fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps (Pastor & Tavares, 2019). The resources include the healthcare workers including the managers, physicians, and nurses. Other resources include the databases in the healthcare environment which shows the patient satisfaction levels and the job satisfaction. Fish diagrams will help fast track the progress and determine the best outcomes. For instance, the healthcare workers will provide information to ensure the managers can make quality decisions (Pastor & Tavares, 2019). The approach should be patient-centered to ensure the practitioners can realize a friendly environment.
Conclusion
Quality improvement plans are effective measures that eliminate recurrent problems in the healthcare sector. The practice problem is an unfriendly work environment due to work stressors. The work stressors have been escalating due to the rising number of patients in the healthcare environment, especially during the pandemic. In the past, healthcare workers have been complaining about unfriendly work environment including long shifts. Designing appropriate measures will resolve the problem. Using fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps is vital in the implementation of evidence-based intervention. The model involves carrying out tasks and measuring their outcome and comparing them with past performance. The resources required to solve the problem includes fish diagrams, run charts, and process maps.
